Mr Velineni is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh since 2021.
Rahul completed his undergraduate training at St George’s Hospital Medical School in London and after his early years of medical training in London moved to the South West of England to undertake Core Surgical Training. He then moved to Scotland to undertake higher training in Vascular Surgery.
Between 2013-2015 he undertook a period of formal research based at Imperial College London examining the basic sciences of venous disease in the leg and in particular chronic venous ulceration. This culminated with the award of PhD in 2018.
He is on the GMC specialist register for Vascular Surgery and is a member of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland, European Society for Vascular Surgery, British Medical Association and the Surgical Travellers of Great Britain and Ireland. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
He lives with Edinburgh with his wife who is a nurse and his young children. He enjoys football, cycling, motorsport and supports Tottenham Hotspur.
Mr Velineni is interested in all areas of vascular surgery and has particular interests in limb salvage for ischaemic legs, carotid artery surgery, all forms of venous disease in the legs (varicose veins), renal access surgery for haemodialysis patients and aortic aneurysms.
Mr Velineni sees private patients with arterial and venous blood vessel problems.
